Instead of a 2-speed pond pump, it is an infinitely variable-speed pond pump. It maintains the design speed for either 60 or 50 cycle current. And it can work off your 115 volt or 230 volt outlet.

Let's say you have a 2-speed Jacuzzi pump with 1 HP on high and 1/8 HP on low. The low 1/8 HP may be too low for your use. With the Money Saver Pump™ system you can dial the speed to 50%, which will be about 1/2 HP. In fact you can dial any speed from 1 to 100%, so you may find an even lower average speed is acceptable. So when you want to show off your waterfall you dial up to 100%. When nobody's home you might dial it back to 40%, or wherever you want.

It works this way:

1. You plug it into a 115 volt single phase AC outlet either inside your home, or out by the pond.
2. It then doubles the voltage inside the drive box to 230 volts.
3. It then converts it to DC, and then back to variable voltage, variable frequency 3 phase AC.
4. It then drives a 230 volt AC, 3 phase motor, which is about 20% to 30% or even more, more efficient than a single phase motor, and it is also more quiet than a single phase motor.
5. As you vary the frequency, you vary the speed, the flow, and most importantly the wattage the motor is drawing. For instance for one of the systems, as you vary the frequency from 6 to 90 Hertz, you vary the wattage from 100 to 1,500 watts. Imagine running a 1 or 2 HP motor at 100 watts. At 60 Hertz the motor is running at design speed, at 120 Hertz it is running at twice the design speed.
6. You can control the pump from inside your home. You can turn it off or on, or change speed, without going out to your pond. In this case the unit is plugged into a GFCI outlet inside your home, and a 12 to 14 gauge (3-wire with ground) cable runs from the control unit out to your pump.

These systems can also be configured to be programmable and can be hooked up to a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to automatically change speeds as a function of the time or day of the week.

The system consists of the controller, the motor, wiring and plugs, and a pump. The pump needs to be selected according to the desired flow rate and system pump head.
