The pond heaters we sell should be installed by properly trained and licensed technicians. If you decide to install them yourself please read the instruction manual that comes with the heater before you start the installation. For instance, if you connect a propane tank without the proper regulator to the heater, you probably will blow out the gas valve's diaphragm. If this happens you may not be able to shut the heater off. The on-off toggle switch won't work, neither will the pressure switch if your water pump turns off, nor the thermostat or the high-limit switches. All the carefully engineered safety circuits will be useless, and you may have a disaster. Not only is the gas pressure critical, but the pipe diameter must be consistent with the size of the heater, and the length of pipe the gas must travel through. We are available to consult with you on this sizing as well as gas pressure requirements and how to take the measurements. |
